A couple of our favorites from the New England area. Kevin, these recommendations are for you.
129 Sturbridge Rd, Charlton, MA 01507, about an hour away from Boston.
This one needs no introduction. At this point, you go for the beer and stay because you got lost in one of their several hiking trails.
What to get: Green, one of their flagship IPAs.
100 Clinton St, Framingham, MA 01702, about a half hour away from Boston.
A kind of joint venture from the same brewing team, Jack’s Abby exclusively brews lagers and the Springdale brand is their more experimental arm. Luckily their taprooms are located in the same building. As an extra bonus, the wood-fired pizza at Jack’s Abby is very good.
What to get: Framinghammer, a big baltic porter from Jack’s Abby, and Geography Bee, a farmhouse saison done up with local produce from Springdale.
284 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02139. A quick ride on the Red Line up to the Central Square stop.
This used to be one of Nick’s favorite spots when he worked at Tank, which at the time was located in Central Square.
What to get: Rabbit Rabbit, a killer double IPA.
92 Hampshire St, Cambridge, MA 02139, another spot you can get to from the Central Square stop in Cambridge.
Skip their actual brewery in Woburn and just go to the original beer bar, which generally has all of the brewery’s stuff.
What to get: If you can find DDH Boomsauce, do that.
